I currently represent Legislative District 5 (Carroll & Frederick) in the MD House of Delegates. I won my election in 2022 and started my 4-year term in 2023. For three years I served on the House Judiciary Committee. In 2026, I was reassigned to the brand-new House Government, Labor, & Elections (GLE) Committee where I was appointed the Committee's Ranking Republican member. Since late 2024, I have served as the Chair of Carroll County's Delegation. I've had success with passing bills that increase transparency in municipal elections and bills that help small businesses with getting State contracts.
Prior to being elected, I was a longtime conservative activist in Carroll County and across Maryland. In 2017, I was appointed to the Carroll County Republican Central Committee and in 2018, I successfully ran in a county-wide race to keep my Committee seat for a full four-year term. In 2020, I was elected to serve as the Third Vice Chairman of the Maryland Republican Party. I was elected to serve as an RNC Delegate to both the 2020 & 2024 Republican National Conventions. From 2017-2021, I wrote for the Carroll County Times and the Baltimore Sun as a bi-weekly opinion columnist providing a conservative view on State and local politics and issues.
In the community, I am active as a member (and former President) of the Lineboro-Manchester Lions Club and an At-Large board member for the North Carroll Business Alliance.
My family moved to Carroll County when I was six-years old and I have lived here ever since, splitting my time between Hampstead and Manchester. I graduated from North Carroll High School and earned my Bachelor's degree from Towson University. My wife, Molly, & I live in the rural village of Melrose (north of Manchester) with our young daughter.
